A Book and A Giveaway

As I said I would be doing in my 7 Resolutions, I am reading a book a week. This past week I read the book Precious, based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. I'm sure most of you have heard about the movie based on the novel. The book club that I belong to is reading this book and now that I read it, I am going to give it away.

The book was very eye opening, raw. You really don't want to believe that children have to live like this, that this is reality for many children\teens. Incest, rape, abuse, lack of education, lack of everything! I know this stuff happens, but you don't want to believe it. I work at a Middle School, and I look around and wonder what happens to some of these kids when they go home. My heart breaks. It's not an easy read by any means, but it will make you think and feel.

If you would like this book just leave me a comment.
I'll post a winner on Feb. 1.

Popped in to say hello!!!
I've been waiting on watching this movie because I want to read the book first ! Of course, I haven't made my way to Barnes and Noble to buy it yet, so this is perfect!

I read A Boy Named Dave and some of the books after that and it was so so sad. So sad that people can be so abusive and not feel they are doing wrong.

Poor Megan. She thinks she is going to win, but she's wrong.

I'd love the book. I work with kids who've undergone trauma every day and it's always hard to hear about the horrible things they've gone through.

I have been wanting to read this!
My husband works at juvenile court and abuse/neglect cases are widespread. It is horrifying to hear about what happens to these children on a daily basis. This is what many of them consider normal and the cycle of abuse will continue. Very sad.

I really want to read this book. I'm going to start crossing my fingers right now. (I have US address, but I'm in Canada and everything is in French. Getting books costs 25 percent higher in price..and few few English movies.)

Great giveaway! ;P
