TWD~Parisian Apple Tartlet

Yes, I know, It's been awhile since I've posted anything I've baked. Especially something I have baked for my Tuesday With Dorie group. I really do love baking, but sometimes baking every week gets to be a little too much. But when I saw this week's recipe, I thought,
Hey, That I can do.
I decided to go for a mini version of the Parisian Apple Tartlet. Instead of using a puff pastry crust, I used some cute little Phyllo\Fillo (I've seen it spelled both ways???? which is it?) dough cups. I took one Golden Delicious apple and cut it into small chunks and softened them in brown sugar and cinnamon water. When they were soft I put one apple chunk in each cup and sprinkled a brown sugar and butter mixture on top. I baked them for 5 minutes and let them cool. When I ate it one, it was like Autumn in my mouth... and really, it feels like autumn outside right now, so it was a very apropos treat.
I just wish I had a little vanilla ice cream to go with it.
Oh, and one other thing... My peonies are in bloom and I am in love.

Oh, your Peonies are stunning! There is just something so beautiful about those flowers! Nice jobs on the little tarts, too! Glad you enjoyed them.

You always make the best things, that seem actually doable.

The peonies are beautiful - I wish I could grow them here.

Great idea for the mini tartlet - I really like the phyllo crust. Perfect size!

Those tartlets are adorable! I always forget about the phyllo cups. I'm going to have to remember.

Youe tartlets are just as whimsical as your peonies... they even have something stragely similar, no?

Very original, and well executed! Bravo!

Your recipe sounds yummy. I don't bake but if I did, I would definitely try this...

So the reason I found you was because I was over at English Tea (awesome Cloggsy) and saw your blog listed. My blog is called my superfluities...I feel linked to you in spirit! (My superfluities is also about what I have in overabundance right now but that tends to mean pics of my kids and me in J. Crew clothing...haha!)

So you can definitely count me in as a follower!!! Have a great (in excess) day!

I know what you mean....I am constantly trying to cut down on sweet temptations. Ah shucks, I just gobbled these down. They were so fun to make and delicious. I feel off the radar for a couple of weeks too and so this was a great entry back into baking. So easy and pretty. I love the phyllo variation. Isn't is so good too? Your peonies are beautiful. Mine are already bloomed out. You must be north of me. Great job.

Like your minis. We had the same idea about peonies. My large pink bush is in full-tilt bloom.

Great idea with the philo dough

So sorry, but those peonies totally eclipse anything that could come out of an oven! Even so, I love it that you made yours with phyllo! That would make this less of a buttery splurge and more of a guilt free dessert. Way to go!

Cute little tartlets! But seriously, peonies are my favorite flower! Have yours changed color? I bought some a couple weeks ago and had so much fun watching them.

Peonies are my favorite flower. I can smell them from a mile away, and I swoon.

The tartlets really kind of brought me back to the baking group. Everything I had made was just frustrating and too much. But I love these.

I think I'll have to try it the phyllo way next time...your tiny tarts are lovely. And those peonies...wow.

There is something about baking I find very therapeutic. That, or I just stuff myself silly until the food coma lets me slip away to my happy place.

Not sure. Will have to give this one more thought. One thing is for sure, though, your apple creation looks lovely.
