Checking In...

Image
Hey-O did ya miss me? I have just been maxin' & relaxin' this week with the family. Sometimes you just need a break from the blog world. We really have been enjoying this time, hanging out and just laying low.  I was so excited to see Hunger Games and it did not dissapoint!! Did you see it? What did you think? I also have been cooking up a storm and making freezer meals for the future, along with some yummy cinnamon rolls via The Pioneer Woman . (Although I cut waaay down on all the butter & sugar she says to use (yikes) I  made a huge batch of Enchiladas. Some for us and some for a friend who just had a baby. I stopped by to drop them off and her baby is so stinkin' cute. But I forget how tiny newborns are! Which is amazing that almost 11 months ago someone let us leave the hospital and bring home something that little for us to care for day and night!?! crazy! Babies are everywhere! My blogger friend Valerie just had a sweet baby boy stop by and say congrats

Happy Friday friends!!! (Did you get my blog title reference? Even after all these years I still use Friends quotes. Do you?) We are just hours away from my husband being on Spring Break!!!!! We don't have anything too exciting planned, but it will just be nice to have him home for a week. However there will be a few things we are planning on doing... I will be making a couple of recipes from my favorite Magazine We are going down to Winona, MN (birthplace of this Actress ) to visit the in-laws. And we plan on seeing Hunger Games as many times as we can! I want to send you off with this video. My mom sent this to me. Hula Hooping is her new favorite past time and she claims it's the best work out ever! I apologize if you never want to read my blog or be my friend after watching this video. Happy Weekend!

Entryway Makeover

Image
When we moved into this house, this was the entryway... And after a coat of paint and some things I found around the house, we had this... Table: Thrifted Chair: Thrifted Lamp Base: Thrifted Lamp Shade: Target Rug: Target Bowl: Marshalls Candle: Target Eiffel Tower: Paris! :) Pillow: Etsy DiyPillows (which I just found out their shop is closing) Mirror: Garage Sale Books: Andrew Wyeth (my favorite artist) Paint Color: There is a fun story about how we came up with the color. One day we were eating Cape Cod's Salt & Vinegar chips  and I looked at the blue on the bag, and said, That would be such a pretty wall color!  So we brought the chip bag to Home Depot and they made us up a gallon.  Linked Up At: Happy Hour Projects ,  House of Hepworths ,  Pincushion Creations ,  The Shabby Nest ,  Five Days, 5 Ways ,  Love Notes by Lauryn ,  Bubbly Nature Creations ,  Anything Goes @ Bacon Time ,  Tatertots and Jello ,  52 Mantels ,  It'

Leprechaun Mischief!

Image
St. Patrick's Day started more like April Fool's Day for me!!! I had a whole fun day planned of Green Cinnamon Rolls, Shamrock Cookies, wearing O' the Green and fun fun fun!! But instead I went to get the mail, turned around, tripped over my husband's HUGE shoe in the middle floor (where did that come from?? darn Leprechaun!)... and face planted into the floor!!! Down she goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OUCH! Thank God I wasn't holding the baby, that would have been BAD!  But it hurt like the dickens and my husband came running and tried to pick me up, but I wasn't ready to be picked up and i just wanted to lay on the floor in my agony and tears. But I started laughing at the same time because I envisioned myself falling and my husband pulling at me to get me off the floor. And that was super funny! He kept saying, Why are you Laughing??? But really I was in pain. Thankfully  I didn't break anything. My arm and my leg took the brunt of it though and I have some nice

SPRING SPRING SPRING!!

Image
We are having the most amazing weather here! 70 degrees all week long!!!! Maybe in other parts of the country that is normal, but here in  MN that doesn't usually happen until May! We've been on a lot of walks and a visit to the lake. Granted there is still ice on the lake, but it's still lovely nonetheless. I know Spring isn't until next week and we have St. Patrick's day to celebrate first, I couldn't help but do some Spring decorating. I found the frames at a thrift store. They were U.G.L.Y.!!! But with some paint, they look totally transformed! So NEVER underestimate some old junky frames and paint! Hello transformation!!!! I had fun editing these photos with PicMonkey . It's very similar to Picnik, so I'm glad I found another fun photo editing site after Picnik goes buh-bye. I suppose I could finally learn how to use photoshop, but I like to keep it real (and easy). I used a feature called Yester-color to give it an old fashio

A Weekend for Waffles n' Stuff

Image
This weekend I decided to make waffles. I saw a recipe for  Pumpkin Waffles   at Whatever Blog and decided it was time to bust the ol' waffle maker out. Do you call it a waffle maker or a waffle iron?? Regardless of what you call them, the waffles were super yummy!!!  My coveted Anthropologie measuring spoons my husband gave to me for my birthday last year!  Delish Blackberry Syrup! My favorite thrift store dinner plates. I have a thing for collecting dinner plates at thrift stores. If I see a set I like, I snatch it up and add it to my collection. That way if one gets broken it's no biggie! I recently found these polka-dot plates at the Goodwill. They are just so fun and cheery! I walked past them about 5 times before putting them in my cart. I'm really glad I did!  I really love going to thrift stores, it's seriously one of my most favorite past times. I was in a thrift store yesterday and as I was walking outside, my dad pulled u

Friday Fun Facts

It's Friday and I'm going to share a bit about myself...   I was voted Most Likely To Make a Fashion Statement in High School. Which is really funny, because after having a baby I feel sooo frumpy all the time.  I majored in Literature and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have a minor in Theology. I still contemplate going to seminary to study theology.  I took three years off of school between my sophomore and junior year. I just had no idea of what I wanted to do in school and didn't want to waste time or money. I lived in New Hampshire for a year, working at a Christian counseling and residential care facility . But it was more like a big farm, where we helped young adults get back on their feet, through work, mentoring, and the love of Jesus. It was not a cult or commune. :) But it was one of the toughest, most challenging and life changing years of my life.  In New Hampshire I worked in the kitchen and canning room (we harvested a ton

10 Months!

Image
10 Months! Long gone are the days of trying to get E to lay on his back and take a picture. This is the best I could get from the big guy. I can't believe in 2 short months he will be a year old! I already have a really fun themed birthday party in the works. It's going to be a party the gods will envy. (this is a hint BTW) I can't wait!!!  But at the same time, I am not in a hurry for E to turn a year old. Day by day he is less like a baby and more like a little boy. sigh.  I had a total cheese ball momma moment the other day at our ECFE baby class. I was just watching Ev play and he was such a big boy, playing on all the equipment and being so active. When he was sitting at the snack table in a little chair and eating his cheerios like a big boy, I literally had to fight back tears. Some days just fly by in a blur, so it's nice when you can stop and take it all in. I am a blessed mommy!

Homemade Washi Tape

Image
I love washi tape!! I'm starting to collect quite a few rolls of my own. They are so pretty and fun to use for craft projects, letters, and gifts. One day I saw this tutorial  at Just Something I Made Blog  for handmade paper tape and I was so excited!!! So here is my tutorial version of washi\paper tape... Collect a variety of vintage old spools. These ones were actually from my Grandmother's sewing box. But you can find them at thrift store and probably ebay. Or else you can just use an empty ones you have on hand.  I bought a box of 3M Positionable Mounting Adhesive from Amazon. It is about $46 a box, so it's not cheap. Luckily, I had some Amazon credit so that was a big help. But you get a ton of it and you can use it for other project too. This stuff is super sticky so watch where you put your fingers! Find scrapbook paper or any decorative paper you like. I had a ton of scrapbook paper that I loved with pretty patterns, So I cut it into long str
