One step at a time

Well hello! I am have been absent from the blog world for awhile. Life is moving at rapid speed and I have hardly anytime to catch my breath. I'm not even that busy making wedding plans. I'm actually pretty relaxed about the whole thing. We did set a date, August 8, 2010. Yes, that means THIS summer. But I'm okay with that. I have my venue set, photographer, still deciding on the catering situation and I am going to look at bridesmaid dresses tomorrow.(Kelly, Rachel & Shannon, I promise to dress you in something fun, chic, sassy, cool and inexpensive) Everything is falling into place. It's strange planning for a wedding. All these big decisions to make for one day. I don't want to cut corners but I think some things are just ridiculously expensive and I don't want to pay full price. Is that bad? Like I'm really content with making my own bridal bouquets. I've read\watched a tutorial and know of friends who made theirs and it looks simple enough. We have also decided to print our own invitations too. T and I really like the ones at Target and decided to give it a whirl. We might even break the rules and use two different looking invites and so who knows what one might find in the mail?
The wedding theme is very Country\Shabby Chic. Mason Jars filled with flowers on all the tables, candle votives in jars, vintage linens on the main tables. Simple. I am having an outdoor wedding with the reception in a barn pavilion. I just want it to be the most fun and relaxed wedding day for me, T and my guests. And at the end of the day as long as T and I are married, nothing else matters.
I love tips, so if any one has any words of advice about the big day feel free to share.

P.S. What I am most excited about is that I am almost caught up on LOST. I am going to watch last nights episode tonight. Seriously, how can it almost be over??? Sunday will be amazing.

We made our own bouquets--with whatever was on sale in the fake floral department. Let me know if you want some help. . . with anything. I don't have anyone to recommend to you. I used to work for a caterer if you want to check him out. I'm not sure what kind of set up you are looking for. I'm not sure on his prices now either. I'm so excited for you!! How will you ever find the time to come visit us now? :0(

Yay for making your own bouquets and choosing your favorite invitations, regardless of where they're from! I really look up to brides who do what they want, regardless of convention or what everyone else wants them to do. It's your day, and you get to choose how to spend it. (And how much to spend!) Good luck with the planning. Can't wait to see pictures!

I planned our wedding in two months. And I was not pregnant! Ha! That was my biggest fear was that people would assume it somehow. But I really liked the short runway, it's like you find a way to get things done, do it, and bam! you're married. I don't know how people spend 18 months planning a wedding, that would kill me! Maybe I was just eager to get on to it. Oh, and cutting corners is always awesome. All the aura around weddings of having to do it this way and that way is a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Now, I begin the 9 hour wait for Lost tonight!

I am finally catching up on all your news. We planned our wedding last year in 6 weeks. And although there were a few things I might have done differently, I loved the experience and we dismissed a ton of "traditional" expenses because of time, but mostly because of money. You have it right in that the most important moment is getting married. And all the rest... well, I have NO doubt your day will be extraordinary. As you are!! Much love to you!
