10,000 +

Minnesota is, The Land of 10,000 Lakes. But I am just going to be upfront and tell you that there are more than 10,000. Just so you all know that. They didn't want the barren dry states to get a complex... so they threw out a number like 10,000 to say, Yeah we have lakes, but just 10,000. (we really have 11,842).
I think it just sounds better to say, The Land of 10,00 Lakes.
How about we put on all our licence plates, The Land of 11,842 lakes? See, that sounds silly. Dontcha think, yaa you knOhw it! (yes sadly, we do talk like that sometimes, okay not sadly, it's really amusing!) You Betcha!

Anyway, I spent the day today out on the boat on the lake. Yeah yeah, I know what you're thinking...

"Isn't she supposed to be back at work and this "fun" business is supposed to be over?"

True. But I took the day off!

It takes me awhile to ease back into the work routine okay!

Back to the lake. A lot of people in Minnesota, either:

a. own a boat

b. own a cabin

c. own both

d. or you know someone who owns a, b and\or c.

But even if you do not have access to any of those things... you ALWAYS are close to a lake. ALWAYS!!! I don't know of one town in MN that doesn't have a lake near it. Thank you Glaciers!!!
Summer is for lakes, boats, cabins, fun, and sun! Oh joy!

Wow sounds just my kinda place! I love water and boats. Do you have a boat too?
I like your stream of conciosuness posts. It is far better to know someone who owns a boat than to actually have to pay & do all the work yourself. How do you get your name to appear at the tend?

I live in Tennesee, where there are tons of lakes, but not NEARLY that many! Of course, I've never owned a boat but I'm hoping my boyfriend, through work, will befriend one of his rich clients who will invite us on HIS fancy boat...

Just a little FYI... really poor people own boats in MN too. There are so many boats floating around (pun intended) that it's easy to buy a cheap one and enjoy the lake.
I just didn't want to send the wrong impression that we are all high rollers, big pimpin' on our yachts. :)
