TWD~Arborio Rice Pudding

disclaimer****There is not really a good way to photog rice pudding... it just looks kinda gross.
I had no intentions of making this recipe. First of all I do not like rice in liquid, and especially not in pudding (ick) and second of all it is a lot harder to bring rice pudding into work than it is to bring oh lets say, Cupcakes.
But when I told my taste testers that I would be taking a break this week they had a complete cow man! bart simpson. moo.
They said, But we will eat anything you make.
Oh really? Fine then you can get icky rice pudding.

I read on the TWD website today where Ms. Dorie Greenspan herself! said, The recipe is wrong! Cook the pudding for 55 minutes not 30 like the book says.
I completely ignored her and followed the recipe in the book. She said it would look soupy, mine looked soupy. So i put in the fridge that way. Left for the evening. When I got home and I said, This still looks like disgusting rice soup! So i dumped it back into the pot and then it thickened rightup. And I realized that I should've listened to Internet Dorie. Not Cookbook Dorie.
Now the rice pudding is resting in the fridge all nice and thick.
I made 2 flavors too.
The first one is with vanilla, raisins and a few cinnamon chips.
The second batch is Chocolate and vanilla.
I doubt I will try them.
I will save eating Arborio Rice when it's in some delicious Risotto!

Gee- I didn't know so many people think rice pudding is gross! I grew up eating it...and after I had both the boys my mom came out to help and made a huge batch for me...I lived off of it during those first few weeks of nursing (you're so hungry and need nutritious carbs). I think it looks yummy!
well you should bring it all to my place...it'll be gone in no time! it looks really good, and I love your new layout!
I thought this recipe was kind of blah. Your co-workers are so lucky that you will cook for them even if you don't like what you are making!

Woops sorry, sometimes it happens that its a bust.
Oh well, wasn't sure I would like it either even though my family thinks I'm Mikie and I'll eat anything. Actually liked it. So ya live and ya learn. Thanks for stopping by.

Kudos to your coworkers.

Rachel, If i had to eat rice pudding, i would only eat it if your mom made it! Because she is the best cook ever!
I'm pretty sure that if you made it it's good. But I still don't like eating stuff that looks like barf.

Vanilla, raisins, and cinnamon chips sounds delicious, even if you don't end up trying them :)

I was thinking the same thing - the rice pudding sure looks gross in my pictures. Oh well, at least it tastes good. Sorry yours came out soupy. You'd think they'd have started printing the books without the error!

I think it looks good and probably tastes good too. I like the idea of chocolate mixed with vanilla. I was boring and just used vanilla this time.

I'm not usually so proud of being the minority, but I'm with Rach, I love rice pudding. Grew up on it. Think it is quite a treat. So, um, sigh, wish I lived closer and could try some of yours!
