Celebratin' over Oysters

Last night, I met with Kelly to celebrate her final days as a teacher. She writes about the experience here, and says it way better than i could. I am very proud of her, I know that even though teaching wasn't her thing, it is a very tough thing to walk away from a career. It is so easy to get stuck in a rut and just stay in a career you hate, but are too afraid to move on. A big round of applause for Kelly's perseverance and her chutzpah to step out and take a chance! Bravo!
So to celebrate we met at Stella's Fish Cafe in Uptown. We enjoyed 2 for 1, delish apps and Oysters. Kelly is one of the few people i know who enjoys seafood as much as i do, and not just the basics like shrimp. But good things like, Mussels and Oysters. The oysters there were fresh and salty sweet... mmmm.

Since you can't leave comments on K's blog, I'll leave it here. I think she is destined to be working somewhere fun part-time--where you make good buckos for your time spent on the job--while spending the rest of her time taking care of the beautiful little girl that is waiting to come home to their family. . .

So now with Christmas almost upon us, I wanted to take the last few days to make some Christmas Crafts. This weekend I spied this AWESOME clothespin wreath on Pinterest which lead me to  Hambly Screen Prints Blog . Not only is it a fantastic blog with fun projects, it's also an online store full of the coolest scrapbook\crafting supplies. If you haven't been to Hambly Screen Prints...  GO NOW ! The clothespin wreath was so fun and easy to make!  Supplies you need: Wooden clothespins scrapbook papers Washi tape (or decorative tape) You can buy washi tape at Hambly, Amazon.com, etsy, Michaels or most craft stores) Glue Thick cardboard for circle (or Michaels sells pre-made circle forms) Felt to cover cardboard (although I skipped that step) Decorate your clothespin however you like. TWD - Cranberry Upside-Downer

I am so excited to be the one to have picked this recipe for the week! I started baking with Tuesdays with Dorie two years ago around this time. At that time, it looked like it might be around 4 years before i picked a recipe. So to find out that it was my turn, I was ecstatic! I've had so much fun baking with all the great people who participate with TWD and have enjoyed making blogging buddies all over the country... and world! This weeks recipe was actually partially picked by my Hubby. There are not that many recipes left! Can you believe that soon we will have made EVERYTHING in the book? But the Cranberry Upside-Downer was an easy pick, especially for this time of year. I was able to find frozen cranberries, although I almost couldn't find them and almost went with cherries.
