Electric Youth!!!

perezhilton.com

I am FREAKING out!! My two pre-teen idols are going on tour!!!! Tiffany and Debbie Gibson have decided to join forces (about time!). I heard it on the news this morning and I launched into singing all the songs i could remember. It brought happy memories back from 5th and 6th grade, singing along to my tapes and me and my friends trying to copy what they were wearing.

Such good times! I love the 80's!

Jug O' Pee

This may be TMI but i just had to post. As my pregnancy comes near a close, I find all these weird things happening. Like my doctor thought i might be showing signs of Preeclampsia, so for 24 hours i had to collect my urine and put in a big jug AND keep it refrigerated. I was tempted to write over the label and put Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice (i didn't!) But everything is now fine, no preeclampsia here. So that worry is over. They did an ultrasound on Wednesday and i have a BIG ol' baby growing in me!!! 7lbs and i'm only 36 weeks. If i go to my due date (which my doctor is predicting i will) I could have a 9 pounder! whoo whee! He has a full head of hair and is really long. Just like his mom! Well I was at one time. When i was born i was 21 inches long which is big for a baby. I only grew to be 5'2" though. And all my super model hopes were dashed. And on top of all that my baby's kidney is a tad big, and so they want to do a follow-up with a Pediatric Urologist at the Children's Hospital. The big concern is that the little guy could get a bladder infection after he is born. So more testing... So i have been to some form of doctor everyday since Tuesday. And for someone who NEVER has to go to the doctor this is getting a little old. Better to be safe than sorry I guess. And if my big ol' baby is doing okay, then so am I! BTW, if you do come over to my house ever and I offer you orange juice, I promise it will only be OJ! :) Have a great weekend! I will be sleeping through most of it. I just can't keep my eyes open these days. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Here I am...

OOOOFTAH!!! yes, we do say that in Minnesota. If you've seen the movie Fargo we do talk like that. No one wants to admit it, but Ooh yaah, you betcha we shurre doo! Anyway, I am so tired. 2 days shy of being 36 weeks being pregnant and I feel like I could go anytime. I am huge and uncomfortable. Water buffalo. I can't even wear my wedding rings because by the end of the day my fingers look like sausages! OOOFTAH!!! I'm so ready to meet this little guy. I have a feeling though that i'll probably go right up to my due date (1 month from today!!) So i'll just wait uncomfortably until he makes his appearance. There is a silver lining... my last day of work is April 21st!! And not just maternity leave, but full on, done with work, going to be a stay at home mom! I have been at my job just shy of 4 years. There have been many good days, lots of not so great days, and lately too many really bad days. Maybe because I'm just crabbier when i'm preggo? But i kid you not, Middle School kids are so LOUD! I swear their words come out in screams and they like to talk back! I guess it's good practice for the future, but it's really starting to drive me insane. I don't remember screaming and yelling in Middle School? But maybe because my school was 7-12 grade so if you walked the halls screaming a big 12th grader would slam you into the locker?! Anyway, i am so excited for next Thursday. I'll miss seeing some of my pals daily, and having my husband right down the hall for when I have a melt down and go running to his room balling... (of course i always make sure he is not teaching when i do this, could you imagine?) But I'll get to be home with my little guy and we can just have melt downs together. And 1 baby screaming will probably be nicer than 1500! In the next couple of days I'll post pics of the baby's room. I just need to put up some curtains and we are ready to roll. Spring is here and i'm in sandals full time now! YIPPY!

Cover a Lamp Shade with Fabric

I've been working on projects for the baby's room. I am currently making a banner with the secret boy's name on it, a blanket and an ottoman cover.

I mentioned in a previous post that i was interested in this Michael Miller bird fabric I saw on Fabric.com
Well I purchased 2 yards and put it to good use by covering a lamp shade. I'll probably use the rest on the blanket I'm making.

This was so simple to make, and all i used was a glue gun! I found the tutorial on Young House Love blog and I'm looking forward to covering more lamps!
Hey! It's Spring! Yippy!

The Truth Comes Out...

Well we did it, we took the plunge. We weren't going to find out the sex of our baby, but with an ultrasound every 6 weeks it just got harder and harder not to find out. If we had just one or two ultrasounds i would've been very content not knowing and having it be a surprise in the delivery room. But I have some health issues that need to be addressed so after my 6th ultrasound I started saying, Okay I think I need to find out.
Plus everything this past year has been so whirlwind crazy, engagement, marriage, pregnancy, moving, selling a house, medical issues, possibility of pre-term labor, I just felt like i needed something that was simple. Something that I could prepare for and put my mind at ease.
So on Monday we went to my 7th ultrasound (i can't even keep track now really) and we said OKAY TELL US!!

And then she pointed at something and said, There's the Turtle Head. Which I didn't get at all, until she said, It's a BOY!
BOY!
Thankfully i wasn't 100% set on a girl, because from day 1 we thought it was a girl. But lately i have been thinking boy and that just felt right. Even in my dreams I was having a boy...
So i am excited for our little monkey boy to make an appearance. I can stop looking at shabby chic stuff and start thinking about little boy things. And OH BOY am I excited!!! We both are! We can't stop beaming!

Home Sweet Home

As of today my sweet little house is going on the market. It's so bittersweet for me in so many ways. And although I know the move to my hubby's house was the best for our growing family, I truly am going to miss my house. I adored this house from the moment i walked through the doors. The beautiful tiled and hardwood floors, the arched entrances to each room, the windows and the glass blocks. The front breeze way and the back porch. And of course my most loved and treasured backyard oasis! I still get a little sad thinking about not being able to be out there this summer. I was blessed with a plethora of perennial plants and shrubs. Including about many different varieties of hostas and glorious Peonies. I think of all the friends & family I hosted & entertained out on the patio, including our rehearsal dinner. I got engaged in that house, found I was pregnant in that house and had so many happy memories there. Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to the next phase of my life as a mom and the house we will bring our baby home to will be wonderful! But it's a letting go process and I'm ready to move on.
P.S. If you know anyone in the Minneapolis metro area looking for a house... send them our way. :)

For Ms. SoS

If I wasn't pregnant I would think Megan was a big baby. But I can relate!!!! And yet, it's so worth it too...

Here it is, my once a year blog post. This year I read 38 books. I always aim for 52 books, but life happens. I read more non fiction last ...
