Wedding in the Month of June

Saturday was a good day for a wedding. My cousin Chris, married the lovely Jennifer at the Minneapolis Peace Garden. It was a beautiful day to celebrate! The bride and groom were all smiles and glee and I couldn't be happier for them.
The reception was a Lurcat, a beautiful bar\restaurant in Minneapolis. Chuck Bass must have been the florist because there were peonies everywhere. The other wonderful thing about the day was having all the cousins together! That rarely happens these days and it makes me smile!
Congratulations Chris & Jen! Love you!

Bad Threes

I always say bad things happen in threes, including celebrity deaths.

It started the other day when Ed McMahon passed away. And I thought, there will be two more soon. Sadly, I found out today that Farrah Fawcett died, and when i heard that, I thought, I wonder who will be the third? I really wished I had not said that.
Because I just found out that Michael Jackson died of a heart attack.

When I was in first grade I went to school and a girl was playing a tape and it was the coolest sounding music I have ever heard. I asked her, "what is this?" and she said,

"It's Michael Jackson, duh!"
Up until that point the only music I had ever heard was, Country, Christian and Oldies. And when I heard Michael Jackson that day my love of Pop music blossomed. Yeah Micheal was a little weird, but he was an amazing performer and great songwriter. So sad.

Cabins and Cousins

This past weekend, I was invited to tag along with my cousins and aunt to a weekend at the cabin. (thanks guys! because according to grandma I have no life)
What was even better about this weekend was that my cousin Erin was back from Cambodia for a few weeks. It has been 2 years since I've seen her and I just heart her lots. This cabin is the place where Kelly and Kyle spend their summer weekends, so it was great that we could all be together up at Lake Hickory.
We had many heart felt laughs, catching fish and sun rays, and only a minor temper tantrum (I want to play Yahtzee and NO ONE will play with me!!!!!! kyle)
We ate like Rock Stars, with lots of fresh homemade meals! YUM!
Tonight we will all join up once again for a Twins game, Dome Dog anyone?
Target Practice:
Kyle scores points for accuracy,
But Kelly wins for style and coolness.
Kyle caught the big one, BIG TIME!
Erin and Kyle cleaning the slabs
Dinner in the sunshine!
Aunt Lori, never without her camera
Or her baby Coach...

Sisters on a boat

Beautiful weekend...

TWD~Parisian Apple Tartlet

Yes, I know, It's been awhile since I've posted anything I've baked. Especially something I have baked for my Tuesday With Dorie group. I really do love baking, but sometimes baking every week gets to be a little too much. But when I saw this week's recipe, I thought,
Hey, That I can do.
I decided to go for a mini version of the Parisian Apple Tartlet. Instead of using a puff pastry crust, I used some cute little Phyllo\Fillo (I've seen it spelled both ways???? which is it?) dough cups. I took one Golden Delicious apple and cut it into small chunks and softened them in brown sugar and cinnamon water. When they were soft I put one apple chunk in each cup and sprinkled a brown sugar and butter mixture on top. I baked them for 5 minutes and let them cool. When I ate it one, it was like Autumn in my mouth... and really, it feels like autumn outside right now, so it was a very apropos treat.
I just wish I had a little vanilla ice cream to go with it.
Oh, and one other thing... My peonies are in bloom and I am in love.

I have other friends too....

I know of as of late, you all think the only friends I have are my co-workers. Quite the contrary, I do have other friends and I'm going to prove my point right here and now:

1. Friday, my MN BFF Shannon and I spent a rad evening together. We ate at our favorite Chinese (pretty authentic!) restaurant the Tea House. With the waiter who knows us and what our usual is. We didn't even really need to order... "like usual right?"
Yummy Chinese food was followed by a funny\silly movie called The Hangover. Staring Bradley Cooper and the voice of our cousin Chad (Justin Bartha). I realized that ]both Bradley and Justin also played best buds in the really dumb movie Failure to Launch. Zooey Deschanel was the movie, but what movie isn't she?

2. I spent Saturday with Ellen. We went to the Global Market and took part in a cake\dessert contest from the various eateries in the GM. My favorite was the Strawberry Cake from the Salty Tart (a most stellar bakery!)
We had delicioso chicken tortas from Manny's Tortas... mmmmmm!
I bought some bamboo spoons from the Hmong market and a Bubble Tea from Pham's Deli.
We also bumped into the Mayor of Minneapolis, R.T. Rybak.
He was just picking up a large order from the Holy Land Deli
And I got a little crush on him, why?

a. Because he was just chillin' at the Global Market.
b. He supports local business.
c. He was picking his order up himself, just him, not his wife or an assistant.
d. He is a looker in person. Raar!
I love Minneapolis!

3. Sunday I was invited to a musical courtesy of my cousin Kelly. Nikki and Heather also joined us and we had some good laughs watching the musical Zanna Don't at the Illusion Theatre.
It was colorful, funny, bold and a great "fairy" tale.

The only co-worker contact I had over the weekend was a text from Good and Bad Liz at 2:00 am... "We are dancing to your song! LYLAS!!!" (fyi, lylas translates to: love ya like a sister)

Sabro does have other friends besides creepy co-workers. See!

School is OUT

This week was the last week of school at the middle school I work at. Yesterday was the last day for teachers... it was an emotional day. More so than the past 2 years. I guess because there are staff and teachers leaving not only for the summer but for good. Many of those teachers I have grown to really like... so it's a sad time. Plus all the peeps that I enjoy seeing everyday, won't be here for 3 months.
Working at a school is strange, unlike most jobs. At most jobs you go to work, see the same co-workers everyday for 12 months strait. At a school you go on co-worker hiatus for 3 months, and it's an odd feeling.
Anyway sudden change can be good and bad.

Bad... miss my crazy co-worker friends.
Good... Get lots of work done.

Bad... no laughing my butt off throughout the day.
Good... I'm going to put 30Rock on in a few minutes.

Bad... No funny co-worker emails throughout the day.
Good... I have pandora.com blasting through the library right now!

Well kids...I have thousands upon thousands of books to process... (notice the shoes are already off and I'm ready to rock the barcodes!) Time waits for no man, and neither does the Librarian.

P.S. I'm not totally alone... I have a special friend to keep me company. The school mascot is chilling at my desk this summer. RAAAAAAAAR!

Shoe Wrecks

These feet belong to one person. This is not a joke. A certain co-worker of mine actually wears these strange shoe combos. It has been my goal (and pleasure) to document these fashion disasters throughout the year. Again, this is not a joke, this is a real person who wakes up everyday and gets dressed with a mirror and perfect vision.

Books I Read in 2019

Here it is, my once a year blog post. This year I read 38 books. I always aim for 52 books, but life happens. I read more non fiction last ...
