Wedding Details and What's Up with Tom Hanks and Caviar?

I was just perusing one of my favorite websites Hostess With the Mostess, when i saw the idea of all ideas, one of the things I said I HAD to have at my wedding some day; A candy bar! Ok let me say that again, A Candy Buffet...
I wouldn't want you to think that i wanted a snickers bar at my wedding. No, what i mean is a Buffet of bulk candy for guests to nibble on throughout the evening. All my favorite candies and sugar plum fairies dancing with glee. I also want a photo booth. A must! I was just talking to someone who had one at their wedding. You could go in the booth, take pictures and it would print out 2 identical sheets. One to keep and one for the guest book. I love it!
I would also like lots of caviar. But I'm sure i would have to marry into the Russian Mafia for that, and we've already done that whole mafia wedding theme once in our family.
And in case you think i don't pay attention when i watch movies. (i don't). But I have noticed that in 2 of Tom Hank's films, caviar plays a big role.
The first in BIG, when he tries caviar for the first time and spits it out all over.
The second is in You've got Mail, when he takes a big scoop of caviar and Meg Ryan's character says, "What are you doing, That's a garnish!" So then T.H. scoops up all the rest and plops it on his plate.
Why am i telling you this?
First: Because i like caviar.
Second: Because Kelly can't stand Tom Hanks.
Thirdly: I have 3 minutes until i can leave and i need to look busy.

Hi Neighbor!

The time has come, you can all stand up and give me a big round of applause, for I have made an appointment with the devil dentist. I know, I know, it's long overdue... but i got this Welcome to the Neighborhood free x-ray and cleaning from a local dentist when i moved in. So I decided to take them up on their offer.
Here are a few other free things I received for moving into the neighborhood:

1. Bottle of Champagne
2. Pillow
3. 30 minute massage
4. Free dinner at local Mexican restaurant
5. Free pick up of my cat by the Humane Society if found wandering.

All for me! I love my new neighborhood! Welcome!

MR. A-Z is coming!

Yes going back to work stinks... but what makes this day so unbelievably perfect; going to see Jason Mraz. On November 19th I will be front and center singing along to my favorite Geek In the Pink! Unfortunately, he is going to be playing at the Myth (really jason?) But it's still worth it.
I will give you a tip, you can pre-order tickets starting today at Ticket Master. Use the code word "polaroid". Oh i can hardly stand the wait!!!

Hi-Ho Hi-Ho...

After spending much time going back and forth, debating the pros and cons of going back to work... I have decided to go back to work tomorrow. Seriously, this new version of Sabrina kinda freaks me out. I could go back next Monday and yet I am choosing to go back tomorrow. Of course tomorrow morning at 5:30 that could all change. I have been known to change my mind.
I am mostly going back because i could use the money and I want to spare some PTO hours. Other than that, i think work could wait. I'm sure at some point tomorrow I will be banging my head against the keyboard saying, WHY WHY WHY!!!!

So here I go... back to reality.

Monday Already!?!

Not that it matters to me, since I'm still on vacation, but where did the weekend go?
Friday night I went to see a play with Ellen and Sarah. We saw, A Murder is Announced at the Theatre in the Round. Three hours long and I barely got antsy. It was that good. Amazing.
Watching the play brought me back to my high school\college years and flashbacks of my own theatre days. It also reminded me of all the times i would forget my lines and I had to make up new ones. Improv is so rad. I still have nightmares about forgetting my lines.

Saturday i took Shannon to my old neighborhood, Linden Hills. We went to some of my favorite places like, Victory, Turtle Bread Bakery, Rick Rack. We also went to other places like Hunt and Gather... and I introduced Shannon to Anthropologie, my mecca. We found some neat garage sales, where i scored some treasures, (you taught me well Paul).
Finds of the day:

Cupcake paper weight

Sabrina cards!

Today I just putzed around, a very lazy day. Layed in the hammock, read and napped.
Took some pictures of my favorites spoons:

And made some special snacks:

This is the last week of my vacation. After this week everything goes back to normal. Regular work hours, endless barcoding, a move back to the new and improved Media Center, workshop week and then the students arrive. Am i really going to work a full school year again? I guess so!
Wednesday of this week i could go back to work technically, or i could wait until August 4. I know what the obvious answer is, but I'm thinking about going back early. Who have a become?
My reasoning for going back to work include:
a) lots to do before school starts.
b) I don't want to use my PTO days.
c) $$$
d) I'd like my butt to resume its flat pancake look after sitting for 8 hours.
e) sunlight is not working, i think i need a good dose of fluorescent lights for a change.
f) waking up at 5:30am brings me joy.
So many good reasons to go back to work early, just the thought makes me smile. Note serious sarcasm. Anyway, Its hard to believe that July is almost over, it always does go by so quickly. Why is that? This summer has been great, especially this July vacation. Last July i was out at my parent's house everyday helping them out after the fire. Hard to believe that was a year ago. What a mess, what craziness. And yet, my parents now have their dream home because of it. Blessings in disguise i presume.
What is even better about this July compared to last July, is I am not sad. No lamenting over ended relationship with unnamed boy. And even though a year later he is getting married to someone else, I couldn't be happier. Really, my life is great, I cannot complain. It's nice to be happy again.
I can't say it enough, but i will say it again: I am blessed.

Flying Squirrels and Run Away Dogs

Today i awoke to the sound of a little bunny and a little squirrel playing together... bouncing and hoping and ricocheting off my hammock!!! The little squirrel decided to use my hammock as his own personal trampoline. I think it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. And his little bunny friend just hippity hopped all around.
Then later as I was typing on one of my various blogs a dog walked into my bedroom! No Lie! Funny, either Marius morphed into a Yellow Lab or there was something in those cupcakes. My first thought was that someone stopped by... Dorothy? Craig T. Nelson (Coach), Libby (dressed as a Lab)? who? I then realized that i left the back door open and doggy walked right in!
SO i showed him the way out, hearing his owners yell for him and he ran back home.

I also got back to real cooking and made Coconut curry chicken with basil.
Yum Yum! Jaime gave me a whole bunch of fresh herbs and so i put them to use.

I also read a book, in my hammock and wrote. I like vacation.

Nice and Toasty

House warming party #1 was a success. I spent all last week prepping for said party... Cleaning, decorating, shopping, weeding, mowing, stripping (wallpaper! you gutter minders!), painting, hauling, pruning, etc... The food was simple, sloppy joes, chips, crudites, (that's French for veggie tray) and cupcakes. There was a great turn-out of some of my favorite people. It rained on and off, but the house kept us dry. There were conversations in every corner of the house. I love seeing a full house. People were kind and generous with gifts and foods and well wishes. I am blessed. Yes Yes!

Today I am laying in the hammock, reading and relaxing. Even Marius is pooped out and needs to come down from his party high.

I will spend the better part of my last 2 weeks off, visiting with friends, reading, writing, cooking, and celebrating some birthdays.
July is quickly coming to a close and I want to make it count.

HALF

Today is my half birthday... now before you start jumping up and down, leaping to the phone and\or email account to wish me the best day EVER. I just realized I'm 6 months closer to 32! and to top it off I found a big fat wirery gray hair this morning! What is happening to me?!?! And don't even get me started on the black hairs mysteriously sprouting from my chin! Rudeness.

Thrifting on a Tuesday

I woke up this day with a massive agenda(s)... Mow the Lawn, Weed, Make front and backyard look pretty... all before the heat kicked my butt. I mowed both front and back, weeded until my fingers bled (really they did, dang thistles and thorns!), and almost passed out from heat stoke. No, not really, I'm being dramatic.
I then had to go to the city offices to get a burning permit, I'm trying to be good citizen sabrina.

Then i went to the thrift store, my favorite one, Arc Value Village. I like it because the money you spend helps make sure my brother has fun in life. (well not just my brother, but people like my brother)
I hit mother load jackpot! All this fun stuff for under $15!

Ralph Lauren Sheet Set to make cushion covers

Shabby Chic Curtain Holdbacks

Shabby Chic Candle Holder

Pottery Barn Paper Lanterns set of 10

and I'm adding these, because i got them for so cheap at TJ Maxx,

Shabby Chic Paper Plates!

It was a productive day, I'm happy.

And Happy birthday Cousin Erin! we miss you like crazy!!!!

Camping in High Heels

Don't let the title fool you, i don't really camp in high heels, although this was the first time i packed high heels in my camping bag.
Shannon and i have been planning a camping trip for awhile. It so happens that there was also a wedding we were invited to in Duluth, so I had the brilliant idea to camp at Jay Cooke State Park, which is minutes away from Duluth.
So we headed out Wednesday afternoon and headed up to the camp grounds. After a forever (it seemed) drive to Jay Cooke we finally arrived, set up the tent and got some brats going on the grill.
We awoke that night to the sound of heavy rain and i even started to feel drops in the tent! WHAT! I guess we left a hatch open or something. Thankfully we stayed pretty dry overall and didn't float away.
Thursday morning we made some ham and cheese melts and then headed out for a hike through the park. We walked over the swing bridge and then hiked by the gorgeous river. How beautiful. I love nature. It started to rain again and so we headed back. And then we had an even more brilliant idea, Hmmm How about we stay out of the rain at a CASINO!

So we went to the Black Bear Casino, lost all our money and drank very yummy Bloody Marys. This is how we roll when we go camping! (and megan and kelly you said camping was lame!)
When we got back to the campsite our site was completely ravaged by a bear!!! Just kidding, I just wanted to see if you were still reading.
But the sun came out, the weather got gorgeous and it was time for some gourmet hobo dinner.
And then sitting out in the sun, reading magazines and entertaining ourselves with endless silly jokes and dorkiness that we do so well.
Dinner was more brats, (don't ask Shannon how many she ate!) and then we went to bed and froze and then... we awoke to a noise... a bear. Just kidding. Well it couldve been... something was ripping apart the garbage we (forgot) left outside. So we put on our bravest faces, and slowly peeked out of the tent, half expecting to see garbage strewn all over, and a bear waiting to eat us. Well whatever it was it only sorda ripped the bag, so we grabbed the bag, threw it on top of the car and drove it to the garbage cans. Then back to bed. Friday was cold and rainy so we sat in the tent reading and talking, until we decided to put an end to the madness and packed up. Onward to Duluth, checked into the hotel and spent the night freezing when we went to dinner, but we got to see a cool lighting storm.
Saturday, I took Shannon to Canal Park, as she had never been (the horror!) and we shopped, saw the sites and got hit on at a coffee shop. I like boys in Duluth, they are way more forward... Nice.
Saturday afternoon we went to the wedding. It was Shannon's sister-in laws sisters wedding. We had fun dancing and flirting the night away.
Crystal, our pasta-fearing friend

Shannon's bro Joe

We all danced until the dj wouldn't play just ONE MORE SONG please!! we begged... and then Shannon and i dragged our dancing selves back to the hotel... until we thought, How about Perkins! I dont know why Perkins sounded so good at 1:00 in the morning, but it did, and we ate and laughed. It was a really fun day.
Sunday we got up early and made a bee-line for home. (sorry Julie, next time!!!)
The trip was long, but it was good... Clothes for Hiking and Shoes for Dancing. The craziest packing experience of my life.
Yo-Ma.
Now i am assessing all the work i have to do for the big housewarming bash. Oh my! But i will do what a i can, with what i have. And hopefully No one will judge me if i am a little less then perfect!

Books I Read in 2019

Here it is, my once a year blog post. This year I read 38 books. I always aim for 52 books, but life happens. I read more non fiction last ...
